Shawfair Development

JSL Services Ltd have been working closely with Shawfair LLP on their new town development in Midlothian since 2018. Shawfair is a 21st century development, primarily residential in character, under construction in Midlothian, Scotland, near to the existing village of Danderhall and the hamlets of Newton and Millerhill, which lie just outside the eastern boundary of the city of Edinburgh.

After numerous youth disorder issues on construction sites in and local to this development where JSL were not security services lead we initiated working together with Shawfair LLP on a project with the local Primary Schools to reiterate the importance of Building Site Safety. In doing so this would benefit all security companies involved locally, the construction companies and the project leads. The children were given the task of designing their very own “warning board” for the development area. All winning boards were professionally printed onto a weatherproof surface and were fitted to the perimeter fence around the construction site close to the schools alongside JSL warning boards. This gave the local children a sense of pride! A competition like this was fun for the kids within the community whilst raising awareness of the dangers within a construction site.

Shawfair is said to be the biggest urban expansion near Edinburgh in modern times! With plenty of experience under our belt from having provided 98% of the security services required for the regeneration of the nearby Niddrie and Craigmillar between 1997 and 2023 we had no issues in being confident in our capability to do the job and do it well!

This Development is leading the way in terms of sustainability when it comes to design and development, so it was with sincere gratitude that JSL were appointed as lead contractor for the provision of facilities management, mainly security and property services. Shawfair is so local to our head office we welcome the design of the new town and continue enjoying providing multiple services to the Shawfair Development, from our Security mobile patrols, CCTV systems plotted across various locations to our Property Services department identifying fly tipping hotspots and dealing with waste services before they become problematic.
